Watermelon Bell

Materials:
Terra cotta pot
Jute rope
1/2 circle wooden piece
1" ball bead
2 1/2" beads
Red, white, black & green paint
1/2" foam brush
Flat brush

Instructions:

Clean and paint the entire outside of the Terra cotta pot white. Allow to dry.

Using the picture as your guide paint the lip area green and allow to dry. When dry, mix a small amount of white with the green to paint the lighter green stripe to look like the watermelon rind.

Paint the rest of the pot red mixed with a little white. Blend the red and white until you get a watermelon color.

Paint a ring of white at the edge of the green rind. Add black tear drop shaped "seeds" randomly on the pot.

Paint the half circle wooden piece to look like a slice of watermelon.

Drill a hole in the wooden piece at the top as shown n the picture. You can paint the wooden beads to match the red of the watermelon or leave them as they are if the beads have been finished.

When the paint is dry, thread one leg of the jute through the hole in the watermelon slice. Fold the jute hanger in half and knot the two ends together. Thread the hanger through the one inch bead positioning this bead so it hangs just above the slice as the clapper, tie knots above and below the bead to keep it in position.

Thread the folded end of the jute through the first half inch bead. Tie a knot below the bead. Thread the hanger through the hole in the pot from the inside, add the second bead and knot the hanger so the beads are pushed tightly against the pot one inside and one outside.
