Beaded Card Case

Beaded Card Case

Materials:

Piece of fabric 15" long by 5 1/4" wide
Hand sewing needle
Thread to match fabric
Scissors
Hook and loop dot or snap to close
Decroative button or embellishment for center front
Glue or Peel and Stick double sided tape
Selection of beads to compliment the decorative piece and your fabric

Instructions:

Cut off or round the corners at both ends. This will be the flap when the fabric is folded. Make sure the sides match. Fold the long part of the rectangle up matching the ends.

Pin in place. Start sewing at the fold for about 1" using a 1/4" seam allowance. Back stitch.

Skip 1 1/2", begin sewing again, back stitch, then sew around the rest of the folded piece. Clip the corners, turn and press.

Fold the bottom up to the corners where the diagonal of the flap begins and fold the flap down. Press again.

Sew a hook and loop dot on the flap. Position another dot on the facing of the card case. (To get the correct placement put a few business cards and or credit cards into the card case and position the dot.) Sew down the dot.

Now for the fun part. Choose a center piece to place on the front of the flap and cover the stitches where the dot was sewn down. Sew or glue down. I use Peel and Stick double sided tape by Therm O Web.

Next choose the beads to compliment the center piece and the fabric. The beading will join the front and the back of the card case and close the opening on the side that was used to turn the fabric.

Begin beading around the edge of the card case starting at the fold and catching the front and back of the card case. Use beading thread and add beads with each stitch. I used the picot stitch.**

Reinforce at the corners where the bottom meets the flap. Continue beading around the flap to the other side reinforcing at the corner again and continue to the bottom. Knot the thread twice and bury the thread in the inside of the card case. Clip the thread.

**The instructions for that stitch can be found in my bracelet kit.
