Pattern

Fabric color of your choice for the butterfly

Paints, glue on jewels scraps of colored fabric etc.

Sewing machine or needle and thread to match

Small amount of batting

Pinback

Instructions:

Enlarge or shrink the pattern to size your pin. Print the pattern on light colored fabric. This does not need to be a permanent print as you will be decorating your pin. Cut out 2 copies of the pattern and be sure to add a seam allowance. Cut an additional outline of the butterfly slightly smaller from thin batting.

Decorate your butterfly as you wish with fabric patches that you applique in place, glitter, paints glue on jewels etc.

Place the decorated butterfly right sides together with the backing, place the batting on top of the wrong side of the decorated butterfly. Sew completely around the outside edge of the butterfly. Trim the seam allowance and clip the curves.

Cut a slit in the back of the butterfly and turn. Stitch the opening closed and add a pinback.
