Butterfly Twister
Instructions: Make a small loop in one end of the first chenille stem by folding the stem and twisting the end tightly around the straight area. Thread the 10mm beads onto the straight stem until filled leaving 1/2" without beads. Fold the end up to contain the beads. Set aside for now. Print out the butterfly. Cut a piece of the 2 liter bottle large enough to hold the butterfly pattern, scuff the plastic with the sandpaper on one side and in both up and down, back and forth to give the color something to adhere to. Trace the butterfly on to prepared plastic using a permanent marker. Paint or color the butterfly. Punch a hole in the head of the butterfly. Fold the wings up along the red lines in the pattern to give it a more natural look. Place the end of the straight beaded stem through the hole in the butterfly fold the stem back up and twist around the straight area then insert the end back up through the beads. Join the remaining 2 stems together by twisting them tightly around each other. Place one end through the top loop of the straight beaded stem and fold it back twisting tightly around itself. Add 6mm or 8mm beads the full length of the stem leaving 1/2" a the end. insert this through a 10mm bead and twist the stem back up around the stem tightly then insert it through the string of 6/8mm beads locking the beads in place. Curl the double beaded stem in a spiral around the straight stem. Hang where it can catch a breeze. Option: In place of the butterfly you may use a pendent of other decoration at the bottom of the straight stem. |
