Toddler Teddy Bear Shirt

Click on Teddy for a full size pattern.

I have been told that Teddy bears have no gender but if the shirt is for a little boy use the pattern as is, for a girl do not trace the tie at the neck but add it to the middle of the top of the bears head and leave off the tails.

Materials:
Child's T-Shirt
Sandpaper 8" X 10"
#2 pencil
Permanent black marker
optional: light box
Fabric Paint and brush, fabric markers or crayons
  • Dark brown or black to outline
  • Brown for the Teddy Bear
  • Blue for the tie
  • Tan for the muzzle
  • Black for the nose, pupils & eyebrows
  • Pink for the ears, paw pad and mouth

Note: Add several sheets of copy paper or brown paper bag and an iron if using crayons.

Instructions:

Print out the pattern and outline the bear and tie on the paper using a permanent black marker. Place the outlined drawing inside the shirt and lightly trace the bear onto the front of the shirt with a #2 pencil. You may need a light box or sunny window to help see the lines depending on the thickness of the fabric.

Place the sandpaper with the rough side to the inside front of the T-Shirt, this will stabilize the fabric as you work and prevent bleed through to the back of the shirt.

Begin coloring in the outline by tracing all the lines with a dark color or black then fill in with the colors listed above or colors of your choice.
