Line Break

Fish Ornament

Fish Ornament & Pattern

The fish represents Christ's blessings.

Materials:

Piece of brown corrugated cardboard approximately 3-1/2" X 1-1/2"
2 pieces of yellow tissue paper 4-1/2" X 6"
2 pieces of yellow tissue paper 2" X 4"
Permanent black pen
2 tiny wiggle eyes or flat backed jewels for eyes
A piece of gold thread or fishing line for a hanger
White craft glue
Straight pin

Instructions:

Using the picture as a guide cut one oval from the cardboard for the fish body. Again using the picture as your pattern cut two pieces of yellow tissue following the contours of the body and the tail.

Thin your craft glue slightly with water and paint the glue onto the fish body front. Arrange the tissue paper to totally cover the body. Allow to dry and repeat on the back side. Spread the glue very thinly (a paint brush may help) covering the entire tail and smooth the second layer of tail down onto the glue. Allow this to dry.

Glue two pieces of yellow tissue together as you did for the tail and allow to dry. Cut two fins from the pieces. When dry glue one set of fins to each side of the fish. Draw the mouth and a small circle for the eye. Glue the eye in place in the circle. Tie your thread hanger around the straight pin. Add a drop of glue to seal the knot. Dip the pin into the glue and push it into the cardboard and allow to dry.
