In the German tradition the heart on your tree stands for True Love. The heart can be made all one color or it can be made following the picture as a patchwork design.

Materials:

5" square of paper, cardstock, felt or Fun Foam in red, white or blue
Red, white and blue paint
Glitter
White craft glue
Ribbon or cord for hanger
Scissors
Pencil
Ruler
Hole punch

Instructions:

Trace the picture pattern on your 5" square. Cut out the shape. Punch a small hole just below the dip at the top of the heart. If you are making patchwork hearts use your ruler to draw the lines both front and back. Paint the areas as you wish. Using the white glue draw the dividing lines and glitter them or glitter certain sections of your patchwork heart. Allow to dry and add a hanging ribbon or cord.
