Easter Bonnet Pin
There are both small straw hats or small lace hats available in the craft stores for this project. Another option would be to stiffen a small doily over a bottle cap of the correct size to make your own little hat. Materials: Instructions: Place the 18" ribbon around the crown of the hat as a hat band tying it in a bow leaving the ends as streamers. Cut the ends either on the diagonal or with the V shape cut. Dot glue under the edge of the ribbon to hold it in place. Place glue on the back of your ribbon roses/flowers and arrange them evenly around the brim of the hat. Glue the pin back on the brim of the hat arranging it so the bow is at the bottom. . Option: If you don't wish to wear this as a pin a magnet can be placed instead of the pin back and it can be used as a note holder. If you wish to make your own ribbon roses follow these instructions: Concertina Rose:
Floral Broom
At this time of year there are usually a lot of florals on sale. To give you the freedom to design your own broom we are not listing flowers by name. Our color pallet includes very light to dark pink and lavenders with green. Pick yours from the sale florals and what will best go with your decor. The entire list of supplies for this project was under five dollars. Materials: Instructions: Make a small floral bow, not quite as wide as the bottom width of your broom. Set the bow aside and arrange the flowers onto the fan part of the broom with their stems toward the handle. The three drooping stems are placed furthest down with the light pink used as filler approximately half down the length of the drooping blossoms. The heavier lavender flowers are loosely grouped toward the handle of the broom and the bow is attached around the handle. This gives your arrangement a solid look at the top that gradually goes into a light airy look toward the bottom of the arrangement. For instructions on making bows visit: http://CraftyCollege.com/room/103 (This is a free class at Crafty College).
Tip # 1. When you have a lot of hand sewing to do thread several needles at once so you can continue until the project is finished with out having to stop to re-thread your needle. Tip # 2. When gluing a project allow your white craft glue to sit about 20 minutes to thicken slightly before use. This will make it easier to use with fewer drips. Tip # 3. When the kids are crafting give them each a cake or sheet cake pan lined with wax paper. It will contain the drips and spills and make for easy clean up.

You can stop the Easter Bunny in his tracks with these wonderful Easter decorations made from egg shells. Any face from simple to sophisticated will turn an ordinary egg into one that is eggtraordinary ! Now let's hop to it! Materials:
The first step in creating these wonderful little people is to blow out the eggs. Wash the eggs thoroughly. Using a large needle carefully begin by poking a small hole in the end of the egg. Gingerly continue to enlarge the hole until it is about 3/16 inch. Now make a second hole on the other end of the egg. Using a toothpick or small skewer, poke the raw egg and try to mix it up. This will make it easier to blow out the contents. Now blow out the egg into a dish. Rinse the egg out and set on paper towel to drain and dry. You can either dye the eggs a pale flesh color or leave them white and color with pencils or crayons. You can also sponge on a thin wash of flesh colored acrylic paint. Drawing the Faces The egg is a perfect shape for a face. You can use the egg with the small end down for the chin of a adult face or turn it upside down and use the large end of the egg to make pudgy cheeks for children. As with any face the placement of the eyes is always in the center or half way point of the face. Draw the face on the egg and using colored pencils or markers. You can make them as simple or detailed as you like. This is a great way to practice faces for cloth dolls as an egg shell is much more forgiving than fabric! You can use the face templates provided as a guide for your egg faces, Face Stencils, or try rubber stamping the face on the egg using Fun Faces by Designs by BJ. Making the Collars The Lady's collar is made with an eight inch length of ruffled lace. Sew a running stitch along the top edge of the lace to gather. Pull to gather and stitch closed to form a complete circle. Cut a one inch circle of card board or fun foam. Thread a 5"doll making needle (or other long needle with a large eye) with about a yard of ¼ inch ribbon. Sew a stitch into the circle to anchor the ribbon and then thread the ribbon through the hollowed egg. The Gentleman's collar is a 1" by 5" strip of heavy paper or card stock. The corners are turned down to make the points of his collar. The bow tie can be made from black paper or tied using ¼" black ribbon. Cut a circle of white Fun Foam or cardboard and secure the hanging ribbon through it. The circle will act like a base for the collar to rest. Run the hanging ribbon through the circle then up through the collar and finally the egg. The collar for our little tike is a cap from those little film containers. Two holes are poked in the center and the ribbon was secured to the lid and then threaded through the egg. Applying the Hair Most any fiber will work great on these characters. Apply glue to the top of the egg and adhere the hair to the egg. Once the glue is dried you can give your egg a haircut! You may want to wait until you have the hat on before you finish with the hair cut. The Hats! Small hats are available at many craft or fabric stores. You can also make beautiful Easter bonnets yourself from a variety of materials including the Styrofoam egg containers! The cups the eggs sit in are already the perfect hat size for your eggs. Once your hat is completed thread the hanging ribbon through the top of the hat. Pull the ribbon all the way through and situate the hat on the egg. Tie a knot at the top of the hat to secure the parts together. Finish trimming the hair if necessary. Create new characters or make portrait eggs of your family! These are great additions to Easter Baskets when tied from the handle. I hope you enjoy creating these fun Easter decorations! Sincerely,
Easter Bunny Head Egg Holder
These can be made from Fun Foam, Stiffened Felt or card stock/heavy paper. You may have to extend the strip for larger eggs. Materials: Instructions: Using the picture as your guide and pattern cut out one bunny head holder for each person. Color in the nose and the inside ear in pink. Give your bunny blue, brown or green eyes, whichever you choose and draw in the other lines with a light color such as grey so his features show. Wrap the long band around in a circle and glue it behind the bunny's head. This is your egg holder. Place a decorated egg in each one.
Pompom Bunnies and Chicks These little pompom critters can be made to add to your Easter decorations, made as tray favors for your local nursing home or traded with your friends.
Pom Pom Chicks Materials:
Glue the smaller pompom just about 2 o'clock on the large pompom. Cut a small (about 1") of chenille stem. Fold it in half and glue the folded end into the smaller pompom following the picture to form his beak. Glue the bead or wiggle eyes in place. Glue one feather on each side of the large pompom to form the wings and one yellow feather on the back of the large pompom as the tail. Cut 2 small pieces of chenille stem and glue the center of each piece on one of the long remaining pieces a little up from the bottom. Bend that piece of the long stem up to form the three toes for the little chick and glue the top end of each leg into the large yellow pompom. To make these little chicks into tray favors or place cards glue the bottom of the little chicks feet to your cut out decorated egg. Write the name or a short message on the egg and they are ready to celebrate Easter. Pom Pom Bunny
Materials:
Cut out two elongated ovals. Use the picture as your guide. Glue these to the top of the smaller pompom. Glue the smaller pompoms on the top of the larger pompom. Glue the white bunny tail in place. This will give you a pompom bunny viewed from the back. You can glue him on the Easter egg card as you did with the Chick. If you wish your bunny to have a face take the three strips of monofilament, fold them together and glue them to the center of the smaller pompom on the side away from the bunny tail. The pink pompom will hold the whiskers in place. Glue the beads or wiggle eyes in place above the pink pompom nose. This will give your bunny a face.
Easter Quiche
6 servings
Ingredients Directions In small skillet over medium heat, cook celery, pepper, and onion in butter until tender but not brown, about 6 minutes. Sprinkle vegetables, ham, and cheese into pie shell. Beat together eggs, milk, salt, if desired, and paprika until well blended. Pour over vegetable mixture. Bake preheated 375 º F oven until knife inserted near center comes out clean, about 30 to 40 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with onion rings and onion curls, if desired. *If frozen use deep-dish style.
Bunny Centerpiece and Party Favor These decorations use the popular Boo Boo Bunny as both a centerpiece and a party favor. The centerpiece can be made from a bath towel, a baby's receiving blanket or any fabric that is formed into a square. The individual party favors can be made from face cloths or handkerchiefs, etc. Great for Easter Decoration or a Baby Shower anytime. For the centerpiece you can place a small bowl for candy, nuts, etc., or you can use a glass or small vase and flowers or a small terra cotta pot with a plant in it. It is your choice. You will need a bath towel folded to make it square. Lay it flat on the table and roll two opposing corners toward each other until they meet in the center. Fold in half with the smooth side out. Place a rubber band around the towel approximately 5" to 6" from the fold. Turn the two pointed ends back up toward the fold and bring the rubber band around the front. This will form the face of the bunny with a crease line down the middle and you will be able to fan the ears slightly just above the rubber band. With needle and thread tack a pink 1/2"
pompom over the crease for his nose. Tack on two wiggle eyes (20mm-30mm)
and tie a ribbon around the neck and back up in front of the ears covering
the rubber band. This can be tied in a bow just in front of the ears making
your centerpiece a lady bunny. Tack a large white pompom on the back at
the fold for the tail. Place on the table with your choice of surprises
in the center.
For the party favor smaller individual bunnies are made the same way but in the back you may place a fillable Easter egg filled with candy or treats. This fillable Easter egg can later be used to hold an ice cube on a boo boo.
Yo yo Christmas Tree Wall hanging This wall hanging can be made in any size you wish, from the size of a large potholder to a wall quilt. Your backing fabric in the picture shown in red is a square slightly larger than you want your finished wall hanging. A muslin square the size of the finished wall hanging will form the front. You will also need a square of batting or fleece the same size as your muslin. Place the backing fabric wrong side up, center the batting with the muslin right side up on the backing fabric. Fold a quarter inch all around on the backing fabric then wrap the backing fabric to the front and whip stitch in place around the muslin square. Trim across each corner to remove bulk and fold the corners whip stitching them in place. Make 15 Yo yos from scraps of green fabric and two from a brown fabric. They can be all the same or all different. You make the Yo Yos by cutting a circle twice the size you want the finished Yo Yo. Run a gathering stitch just inside the edge, pull it tight to gather. Center this gathered area and flatten the Yo Yo. Since they will be covered with a button or other decoration there is no need to hem or turn under the edge of the circle. Center the first Yo Yo near the top of your wall hanging to make the top of the tree. Sew this Yo Yo in place using a button to cover the gathered area and anchor the Yo Yo to the wall hanging. This can be done with the same colored thread, contrasting embroidery floss or narrow ribbon. You may sew it as a solid bar or go from the top through up to the top, back through the first hole and bring it around through the second hole again and tie it in a bow on the front. The method is your choice. Arrange the second row of 2 Yo Yos below and meeting in the center of the first. Using the picture as your guide continue until you have placed all 15 green Yo Yos then add the two brown Yo Yos at the bottom to form the tree trunk and your wall hanging is complete. You can add two small rings, one on either top corner, or place a sleeve on the back and use a dowel stick to hang depending on the size of your wall hanging.
