Decorated Journal

Journal made from purchased notebook

You can make this card or journal or purchase a small spiral notebook and decorate.

Material:

A piece of card stock 5-1/2" X 8-1/2"
3 to 4 pieces of paper 5-1/2" X 8-1/2"
A hole punch
18" of cord, jute or narrow ribbon
Beads in color of your choice
Stickers**
Paints, Rub and Buff, glitter to embellish
Option: Purchased notebook

Journal or Card

Instructions:

To make your own journal carefully fold the card stock in half to make a 4-1/4" X 5-1/2" book cover. Fold each of the individual pieces of paper in half placing them one inside the other and all of the pages inside the card stock cover. Punch three holes spaced evenly along the folded edge of your booklet.

Thread the cord/ribbon through the top hole and center the ribbon. Bring the piece on the front of the booklet down to the second hole and insert it going from front to back. Bring the back piece of the ribbon down to the second hold and insert it going from back to front. Bring the ribbon that is now at the back to the third hole inserting it through to the front. Both ribbons are now on the front of the booklet. Tie them in a square knot at the third, or bottom hole.

String half of the beads on each ribbon tail knotting the ribbon at the end and trimming any excess. Decorate the cover of your journal with the stickers. You can also give your journal a title.

Option: If you use a purchased spiral bound notebook you will not need to punch the holes or thread the ribbon through to bind. However, to decorate you may take a shorter piece of ribbon, tie it through the spirals and add your beads. This will be strictly decorations.

In the examples we show both methods.
