Christmas Lantern Ornament
Print on heavy paper or card stock. You may color or paint the lanterns black or the color of your choice. Cut out the four peaks and punch a small hole where marked. Cut out 4 sides as one long strip with the tab on the far right. Score all marked lines and fold the lantern to form a square. Glue the tab to the inside of the first rectangle. Fold all four of the upper triangles to meet at the top and thread a ribbon, cord or round key chain through the four hole to close and make a carry handle. Option 1: These lanterns can be reduced in size to make Christmas light covers. The window area around the candle should be cut out and yellow tissue paper glued behind the windows. Then each lantern can be tied over a Christmas light. The light will shine through the tissue and look as though the lanterns are lit. Option 2: a square of poster board or heavy card stock can be cut just slightly larger than the square bottom of the lantern and glued in place with white craft glue or the glue sticks for paper. DO NOT use this option if you plan to put lights in the lantern. It could be a fire hazard.
Materials:
Working with a small area at a time spread the glue on the glass ornament in the design of your choice. Place the variety of beads, sequins, etc. in the glue following your design. Working around the ornament complete the design. The design can be holly leaves as shown in the picture or if you have a scratched or damaged ornament just swirls of glue encrusted with beads, metallic clips and cutouts and sequins can be used to give the ornament new life.
This invitation can be used for a Christmas party, a New Years get together or for any other party by changing the type of confetti and decorations you will use. In the USA it can be mailed as regular 1st class mail but must be weighed for correct postage.
Wash and allow the bottle to dry completely. Remove the label and soak off any leftover glue residue. Save the lid. Write out your invitation on one side of the blank card using permanent markers in colors appropriate to the type of party you are giving. You can also add stickers to decorate both sides of the card. Roll the card with the writing side out just enough to fit it through the neck of the bottle. As it drops into the bottle it will open out so that it can be read through the bottle itself. Add confetti, glitter and punch outs to the bottle. Place a drop of craft glue on the top edge of the bottle and screw the lid down tightly. This will glue the lid on. Center your 4" square of aluminum foil over the lid, bring it down to the neck of the bottle and tie with the two strands of curling ribbon. Using the edge of your scissors, curl the four ribbon tails. Address you label and attach to the bottle on the side away from the writing on the card. Then mail or hand deliver.
Materials:
Glue the first bottle to the second bottle bottom side against the edge just beside the lid. You will have the top bottle's opening facing away from the bottom of the second bottle. This will allow you to remove the lids and replace them without disturbing the second bottle. Twist your chenille stem following the picture to form the antlers. Glue it to the lid of bottle one. Cover the lid with one of the circles of felt. Glue a circle of felt to the second lid. Glue the eyes along each side of the top bottle and glue the nose Pom Pom on the edge of the top bottle following the picture. Fill each pill bottle with candy or as an option small gifts. Place the lid with the antlers so the antlers are sticking up from the reindeer's head. Place the second lid on the bottom bottle. These make cute tray favors or place markers.
# 1. Holiday cookies can be packaged in zip type bags or wrapped in cellophane bundles with one of the Cinnamon Ornaments as the gift tag. # 2. When Cinnamon Ornaments begin to lose their scent a light sanding on the back with an emery board will allow the scent to be released again. # 3. Cinnamon Ornaments make a great air freshener for your automobile.
Angel Pendant/Ornament Materials:
Condition the clay until it is soft and workable. With the flesh colored clay form a ball about 1" in diameter. Roll until smooth. Using a toothpick gently draw the sleeping eyes and mark the area for the mouth. Form a second ball slightly larger than 1/4" in diameter. When smooth use a toothpick to place an indentation around the diameter of the ball. Set these aside. With your blue clay form a cane approximately 1" in diameter and 2" long. Gently curve one end to form a rounded pyramid. Form a second cane 2" long by 1/2" in diameter. Cut this cane in half and gently smooth it into your pyramid to form the angel's arms. Place the small ball with the line running from top to bottom between the two pieces to form her hands. Pinch the top of the hand ball slightly to elongate. This will look as if your angel has her hands together praying. Place the head ball on the top of the blue gown piece and gently smooth in place. Insert the eye pin into the top of the head to make a hanger. With the gold or white clay roll flat to approximately 1/4" thick and 2-3/4" square. Using the pattern cut out the wings. Blend the wings to the back of your angel. Be sure the bottom of the wing does not extend below the bottom of the angel gown. They will extend above her head. Place on a cookie sheet and bake according to manufacturers directions. Turn off the oven and allow to cool in the oven. When completely cooled paint the eyes and mouth. Wrap your star garland overlapping the ends and twisting them around themselves to form her halo. Glue the halo in place and your angel is ready to add to a rattail cord for a pendant or tie with a ribbon to make an ornament for the tree or package tie.
Mitten Garland  Materials:
Using the picture as your pattern cut a mitten shape for each member of the family. If you have a large family you can use one mitten per name. If a small family use a right and left mitten as shown in the picture. With the permanent marker write the name across each mitten. Glue the mittens side by side on a piece of rug yarn or regular yarn that has been either braided or chain crocheted to make it a little thicker. Tie a bow in each end of your yarn and hang the garland where you like. This garland can be used to hold and display Christmas cards by spacing your mittens and placing cards between them.
This little snowman can be used as a bookmark but he will also fit in a regular envelope and can be mailed as a Christmas card gift by writing your greetings on the back. Materials:
Trace the picture of the snowman onto your posterboard or construction paper and using your permanent markers color the eyes, mouth, buttons and hat black, the hat band and scarf in red and the nose orange. When dry cut the snowman out following the lines on the picture.
No Bake Cookies Step 1. Mix in saucepan:
Step 3. Remove from heat and cool for one minute. Step 4. Add:
Step 6. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. These cookies are better if you let them set overnight. The oats absorb more of the moisture and don't taste so dry. You can add a couple of tablespoons of powdered cocoa when you add the oats if you want chocolate.
These Cinnamon Ornaments are made using the Solid Cinnamon Cut-Out Mix by Cinna-Minnie Collectibles. The general instructions for her mix are included here. Below these instructions are the specific instructions for the ornaments shown. General Ingredients:
First measure out at least a 25" long sheet of freezer paper and tape it down on all four sides to your work surface. Spray Pam cooking spray on the rolling pin rubbing it in evenly over it's entire surface and set aside. Place your wood slats on each side of the freezer paper. Empty the Cinna-Minnie Solid Cinnamon Cutout Mix into the mixing bowl and set aside. In a two cup glass measuring cup add the applesauce and glue....making certain to mix the glue evenly into the applesauce. Heat this mixture in the microwave on high for 60 seconds. Add the applesauce/glue mixture to the cinnamon dough and mix thoroughly until it is all moist [it will be crumbly at this point]. With your hands work the cinnamon dough [still in the bowl] until it holds together, then turn it out onto the work surface [that has been covered with freezer paper] and knead as you would bread dough...until you get a good smooth dough [it is recommended that you knead the dough for about 5 minutes or until it is smooth...it is important to knead more rather than less]. Mold it into a ball and roll around on your work surface until it is smooth. Position the wood slats on each side of the dough so that each side of the rolling pin rolls evenly over the surface of the dough and wood slats. Roll the dough out and cut out your shapes...repeat this process until all of the dough is used up. Place all cutouts on your chosen drying surface and let them dry...remembering to turn them periodically. When they are dry use them as you wish. Cinnamon Ornaments These ornaments are decorated with a little paint and a jingle bell on the Teddy Bear and Rudolph but check out the Cinna-Minnie home page to see what can be done with a little more imagination. Materials:
Mix following the instructions above. When the dough has been prepared roll out to approximately 1/4" thick. Cut out your designs using the cookie cutters of your choice. Using the straw cut out a hole at the top of each ornament. This is where you will insert your hanging cord or ribbon. Transfer the cutouts to a drying screen or rack and allow to dry for several days turning them twice the first day and at least once each day thereafter. When completely dry and hard place the ornaments flat on a covered work surface and paint them as desired using your acrylic paint and either a brush or the squeeze tube method. You may also use scraps of fabric and trims glued in place with white craft glue. Allow the paint and glue to dry. Tie an overhand knot joining the two ends of the ribbon or hanging cord. Insert the folded end through the hole in the ornament then back through the loop in the cord. Adjust the hanger loop. Only one side of the ornament is painted and decorated to allow the scent to be released from the back side. As with all craft projects the utensils used should be reserved just for crafting and not used again for food preparation. You may use a glass or round bottle as you rolling pin. Chopsticks or two magazines can replace the wooden slats used to give an even depth of the dough as you roll it out. Always work on a covered surface to protect your furniture. You may cover it with freezer paper, plastic wrap or an old plastic shower curtain or tablecloth.
Seasonal Decorated Candles This candle can be made to fit any of the holidays that fall in the Winter holiday season. Changing the colors of the candle, paints and beeswax can take it through Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice and New Years. Our sample is a white pillar with blue beeswax and silver Candle DecoPaint.
Materials
Slightly warm the sheet of beeswax and using your cookie cutter cut out the design of your choice. Press the warm beeswax cutout to the shape of the pillar candle. Since the Candle DecoPaint is a real liquid wax it can be used to tack down the beeswax motif then following the edge of the motif seal it to the pillar candle with a bead of the Candle DecoPaint. Add detail to your design and also around the design with the Candle DecoPaint. The details can be dots or imitation embroidery stitches, swirls or any other designs made with the Candle DecoPaint. These will sit up and form dimensional designs on the pillar candles.
